If you haven’t heard of the Equi Cube you have been missing out. This wonderful training tool was introduced to me by a fellow instructor, and she has used it for years. It is a rubber cube weighing just under 5 pounds with two handles. This tool works to teach riders how to maintain steady contact. The weight of the rider’s hands is very important and often students don’t quite understand how much to hold in each hand. The Equi Cube is a great way to develop a sense of balance independent of the horse’s mouth. |

Rising Starr Horse Rescue: Kelly Stackpole, founder and executive director of Rising Starr Horse Rescue (RSHR), embarked on a mission to save, rehabilitate, and rehome abandoned, neglected, and abused horses after discovering the harsh realities many faced, including the threat of slaughter. Since opening her barn in 2005 for noncompetitive horse lessons, Kelly has expanded RSHR into a powerhouse of compassion and advocacy. Supported by a dedicated team of veterinarians, staff, and volunteers, RSHR ensures each horse receives specialized care to heal physically and emotionally. Beyond rescue efforts, Kelly educates the public about horse welfare issues, particularly the cruelty of horse slaughter, while engaging youth to foster a future generation of empathetic horse advocates. Through her leadership, Kelly Stackpole and RSHR not only give horses a second chance at life, but also inspire her passionate community to cherish and protect these majestic animals for generations to come.
