Let’s start at the beginning… How did you get into this? How did Spy Coast Farm come into existence?
Well, it started back in about 2003 when my daughter and I had just started riding and I had a mare, she was an off the track thoroughbred and she was just a delightful mare, and when her career was over I decided to breed her. That’s how I originally got into breeding. I actually bred two thoroughbreds first before I branched off into the warmbloods.

It was my junior year of college when I left home to chase a dream of riding racehorses. The horse I loved more than life rode in the horse trailer and my dog Sandi was curled into a ball in the backseat when I drove to Louisville. Within two weeks I was galloping down the track on young Thoroughbreds, impressing trainers with my bravery and skill. But soon, piece by piece, it began to crumble. An accident on a somersaulting racehorse landed me in the hospital, and my beloved horse Gideon went missing. Holding onto the dream, and my faith, was like grabbing water by the fistful and watching it slip between my fingers.

The Stable Friendships Foundation is dedicated to providing access to holistic and evidence-based treatment for individuals with special needs.
