What’s Iron Spring Farm’s origin story?
Iron Spring Farm started with the purchase of a Trakehner weanling named Jagdgeist in 1974. He became one of the foundation stallions of the American Trakehner Association (ATA). Mary Alice Malone, owner of Iron Spring Farm (ISF), raised and trained Jagdgeist. She brought him up the levels in dressage and eventing before he became a jumper. His purchase came about because of the lack of availability of specialized sport horses in the U.S. at the time.

It was my junior year of college when I left home to chase a dream of riding racehorses. The horse I loved more than life rode in the horse trailer and my dog Sandi was curled into a ball in the backseat when I drove to Louisville.
