Rising Starr Horse Rescue: Kelly Stackpole, founder and executive director of Rising Starr Horse Rescue (RSHR), embarked on a mission to save, rehabilitate, and rehome abandoned, neglected, and abused horses after discovering the harsh realities many faced, including the threat of slaughter. Since opening her barn in 2005 for noncompetitive horse lessons, Kelly has expanded RSHR into a powerhouse of compassion and advocacy. Beyond rescue efforts, Kelly educates the public about horse welfare issues, particularly the cruelty of horse slaughter, while engaging youth to foster a future generation of empathetic horse advocates.
